Mike Allen – Writer

I’m Mike Allen, a writer from the UK. I offer manuscript assessments and run small workshops for writers of literary fiction.

My work has won the 2019 Seán O’Faoláin International Short Story Prize and a 2018 Escalator Prize from the National Centre for Writing, and was Highly Commended for the 2026 Moth Short Story Prize. I was a 2023 Fellow at the Sozopol Fiction Seminars in Bulgaria. I have an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia and a BA from the Slade School of Fine Art. I’m currently working on a novella set over a single night in 1815 London.
